A bit farther than I'd go, but the Porta Pro and the KSC75 (which I prefer) are vital to keep you grounded in this hobby. They're so fucking good for so cheap. As for better headphones, there are plenty that are better and more enjoyable but I think the HD650 seems to be the ultimate successor to the Porta Pro in my mind.
